UL Overview
Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) is an independent product safety certification organization that tests products for compliance to specific safety standards.
In order to meet our customers' safety requirements, HIS certifies all display products to meet one or more of the following categories.
Industrial Control Equipment (NRAQ)
Products Listed under this category include programmable industrial control systems utilizing a programmable memory for internal storage of user-oriented instructions for specific functions, such as logic, sequencing, counting, and controlling various industrial equipment through digital or analog inputs or outputs. Other products include power supplies, central processing units, input and output accessories, computer interfaces, and programming or program diagnostic units associated with programmable control systems.
Reconditioned or rebuilt programmable controllers and their accessories are also included in this listing. Reconditioned or rebuilt devices are factory reconditioned to the extent that disassembly and reassembly is necessary, using new or reconditioned component parts. The reconditioned devices are subject to the same requirements as new devices.
The basic standard used to investigate this category is UL 508, Industrial Control Equipment.
All of HIS' Panel Mount monitors (HIS-ML12, HIS-ML15, HIS-ML17, HIS-ML19, and HIS-ML21) are covered under UL 508.

Equipment may be electronic or electromechanical in design or a combination thereof. Various groupings of equipment are covered under this category, such as flat-panel displays, LCD displays, monitors, and plasma displays.
The basic standard used to investigate this category is UL 60950-1, Information Technology Equipment.
All of HIS' Universal Mount monitors are covered under UL 60950-1. HIS-UM15, HIS-UM17, and HIS-UM19 are covered under model numbers HIS-WL15, HIS-WL17, and HIS-WL19, respectively.
