RoHS / REACH Compliances Overview

The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC restricts the use of six hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment sold in Europe effective July 1, 2006. This Directive will ban the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

All RoHS-compliant parts have less than or equal to the maximum concentration of 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials of lead, hex chrome, mercury, PBB, PBDE and 0.01% for cadmium, or qualify for an exemption to the above limits as defined in the Annex of the RoHS Directive.

The mark indicates the requirement NOT to dispose of the equipment as unsorted municipal waste, but use the return and collection systems according to local law. Users should contact their supplier and check the terms and conditions of the purchase contract.
