Instructions for Using the COMDUMP Utility

 

COMDUMP Checklist

  • Command format: comdump 1 (or 2)

comdump 3 (or 4) 9600 IRQ#

  • Data must not scroll when screen is not touched

    If data scrolls when screen is not touched:

      1. Bezel is clamped on screen or
      2. screen is damaged or
      3. cable is shorted
  • Data must scroll when screen is touched

    If data does not scroll on touch:

      1. Try another COM port if possible
      2. Try disconnecting the monitor's power cord briefly, then reconnect and try comdump
      3. To prove that the COM port is OK: connect a serial mouse and move it. If data scrolls, COM port is good

  • Hshk indication should be DSR CTS

    If data is OK but handshake is not, try disabling handshaking

  • Confirm [55] [54] in data
  • If no 55 54 in data:
    1. an older Elo controller is being used or
    2. a current Elo controller is set to emulate an older controller or
    3. a non-Elo controller is being used or
    4. the controller is malfunctioning or
    5. the COM port's settings are incorrect: 9600 baud, no parity, 1 stop bit
