Hope Industrial Systems Case Study

Adder Case Study

June 2008

PC-based HMI has become increasingly common in the Industrial Automation market. We at HIS believe that in most cases, it is not necessary to place a fully-ruggedized PC directly on the factory floor. These systems are generally vastly more expensive and more difficult to maintain than comparable office-grade computers and servers.

Using HIS industrial monitors and workstations, combined with either long cables or a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) extender, it is possible to leverage the lower cost and higher performance of office and server-grade hardware. Rugged HIS touchscreen workstations can be located up to 1000 ft. (300 m) from the PC, which can be placed in a clean, climate-controlled closet or server room. The ability to locate several PCs in the same room for easy maintenance is an added benefit.

Since 2002, HIS has been partnering with Adder Corp. to deliver their best-in-class extender technology housed in our rugged enclosures, which meet the industrial specifications our customers expect.

Recognizing the success of this partnership, Adder discussed the benefits in a June 2008 case study, Hope Industrial Systems, Inc. - Challenge... Solution... Result.
